Uma das notícias pré-US Open foi o facto de Carlos Ramos não ir arbitrar qualquer encontro de Serena Williams durante toda a competição.
Ora, após o arraso frente a Maria Sharapova, a norte-americana foi questionada sobre essa situação mas a sua resposta foi, no mínimo… estranha. “Pois… eu não sei quem é”, atirou, referindo-se ao árbitro português.
Sobre o encontro frente à russa, Serena mostrou-se satisfeita com a exibição. “Foi muito importante porque é bom ter encontros complicados. É bom passar por encontros complicados, especialmente para mim. Por vezes, tenho a tendência de começar devagar. Isto ajudou-me”, reconheceu em conferência de imprensa.
